Perogies and Jam Held its final concert of the 2018-19 season on Saturday, April 13 at the Vegreville Sunshine Club as the home-town band, the Off Ramp Boys hit the stage to wrap up the final show for the year.
Perogies and Jam has had a great fan base in Vegreville since its inception in 2011 with the purpose of “developing an enduring live music scene in Vegreville by cultivating local musical talent”. They moved their venue to the Vegreville Sunshine Club in the fall of 2017 with the impending sale of the Train Station.
The Sunshine Club has a raised stage for live performances and with the great food provided by the Sunshine Café, they can easily accommodate large audiences with café style tables and chairs. Perogies and Jam typically host an Open Mic segment for local musicians to perform in advance of scheduled performers. It’s the best entertainment value in the region.
During their 9th season, Perogies and Jam held a full evening Music Jam with local and regional musicians, a Community Gospel Night at a local church, they separately hosted the talents of the Rural Routes and country singer Travis Dolter both from the annual Country 106 Star Search, country music singer Darlene Thibault, and concluded with Vegreville’s home grown (and “tallest band”) the Off Ramp Boys.
During this season, Perogies and Jam also provided a sound system for annual community events including Reindeer Lane, Family Day, Vegreville’s Got Talent, the Wendy Brook Festival and the Volunteer Appreciation event.
