Despite the early morning rain and threatening storm, Perogies and Jam showcased local musicians all day on the busy street market in downtown Vegreville. We are privileged to have such dedicated performers and volunteers to provide this great entertainment! Special appreciation goes to Bob Ashmead and Charlie Gargis for the sound system. Opening the event at 11 am were the talented trio of Silver and Gold followed by a variety of singing performers accompanied by guitars, keyboard, drums and saxophone. The music continued all day and was a hit with the market vendors, shoppers and supporters alike. For the community and visitors to Vegreville, this was a complimentary draw to the activities concurrent at the Agricultural Fair on the fairgrounds this weekend.
The roster of musical performers included:
- Silver and Gold (Bob and Madeleine Ashmead with fiddle player Charlie Gargis)
- Leeland Bachelet
- Ralph Lange
- Lorne Fill
- Randy Kereliuk
- Rob Hughes on Drums
- Rachel Melenka
- Michael Nawrot
- Country Sunshine
It was great to have the warm “country sunshine” at the close of the event at 4 pm. Thank you all for the fun! Please mark your calendars for another Street Market with Perogies and Jam on September 10, and come on down!
